Appavate Limited ("we", "us", "our") is a New Zealand company. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) set out in that Act.
This policy applies to all products and services operated by Appavate Limited, including Spendy, EasyRental, our Android applications, and the appavate.com website.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information only where it is necessary for the purpose of providing our services. The types of information we may collect include:
- Account information: name, email address, and contact details you provide when creating an account or contacting us.
- Usage data: anonymised and aggregated data about how you use our products, collected to improve performance and user experience.
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and app version, collected automatically to ensure compatibility.
- Financial data (Spendy): transaction data you enter into the app. This data is stored locally on your device or in your personal account and is not accessed by us.
- Property data (EasyRental): property and tenancy information you enter. This data is used solely to provide the EasyRental service to you.
2. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you when you create an account, use our services, or contact us. We also collect anonymised usage data automatically through our applications. We do not collect personal information from third parties without your knowledge.
3. Purpose of Collection
In accordance with IPP 1 of the Privacy Act 2020, we collect personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and improve our products and services.
- To communicate with you about your account or our services.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- To analyse anonymised usage patterns and improve user experience.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Storage and Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, in accordance with IPP 5. Data may be stored on secure servers located in New Zealand or with reputable cloud service providers. Where data is stored overseas, we ensure protections are comparable to those under New Zealand law.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose personal information only in the following circumstances:
- With your consent.
- To service providers who assist us in operating our products, subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Where required by law, regulation, or court order.
6. Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information held by us (IPP 6).
- Request correction of any inaccurate or misleading information (IPP 7).
- Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain it.

Our services are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through our products or website. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was most recently revised.
